Romantic Weekend Getaway...with stamps!

Charlie and I took some time to get away from things and just enjoy each other.  We went to Queen Wilhelmina State Park on top of Rich Mountain way over in Polk County.  This is a great place and I highly recommend it.  Check out the park here.  There's plenty of hiking, they have a restaurant on site, and Mena is just a short drive away.  Mena's downtown is delightful; they are revitalizing their main street and it's worth a visit (but not on Monday as Mena is shut down on Monday! LOL)

I went hiking.  No really, I did!  And it was actually fun.  Who knew??  We hiked the "Lovers' Leap" trail, which connects to the Ouachita Recreational Trail.  For more on the Ouachita Trail go here.  It was cool on Monday morning and the hike was perfect.  Everything was so green and lovely.

Mystery Berries...no, we didn't try them!
We really had a lovely morning hiking.  I think Charlie only hiked with me to humor me, but he ended up enjoying it, too.

Moroccan Nights

Have you looked at the Moroccan Nights stamp set, Moroccan washi tape, and the Moroccan DSP?  At OnStage 2016, when I was looking through the NEW catalog, I skipped right by those pages, lanterns, really?  So not my thing!  But then at the very end of OnStage everyone who was there was given the Moroccan Nights set and then Sara Douglass stamped with it and suddenly I wasn't over looking it anymore.

The paper is amazingly beautiful.  It uses colors that don't normally appeal to me.  If you look in my closet, these colors aren't there (well, except for the Dapper Denim, of course) and I tend to wear and stamp with colors that I like.  So yes, sometimes I match my cards!  Check out these paper swatches and see what you think.

The Washi tape goes with the DSP so well!  My favorite is the very vanilla one with the medallions on it.  What's your favorite?

I had a washi tape class on Thursday night.  We used the Moroccan Nights stamp set, Moroccan DSP and Moroccan Washi tape and then when it was over everyone took home a Moroccan washi tape set to play with at home!  This Washi will be super pretty in my planner, FYI.

We started with the easy one in Emerald Envy to get the feel of the set.  I love the enamel shapes on this card!  The message is stamped in Delightful Dijon (do you know what set this stamp is from?) and the ribbon is Dapper Denim ruched ribbon.

Emerald Envy is a great color for this Moroccan card!
The Delightful Dijon card took a lot of time not because it was difficult...just a lot of fussy-cutting!  We stamped the medallion down in the corner just below the washi tape and thank you banner to add a little depth. We added rhinestones and wink of stella to the windows of the open lantern, because of course we did!

And then came the complicated card! Layers and dimensionals, and more layers, and washi tape, and baker's twine...whew!  But look how beautiful it is!  Completely worth the time and effort! Oh I forgot there are gold doilies!!

And last but not least, here is a card that I made using the Moroccan Nights medallion stamp with brighter colors.  I colors the Medallion stamp with my Stampin' Write markers to get the pretty mosaic effect.  This one probably DOES match something in my closet!  I'm pretty sure that I'm never going to be able to send this card to someone as I love it too much!

I highly recommend the Moroccan Nights Stamp Set.  It has those beautiful lanterns, the big medallion, a small star, and a border stamp that I haven't even used yet!  It goes with every occasion from thank you to birthdays.  If you'd like to know more about it, leave me a comment and I'll get back with you.

I have a Logo!

A huge thanks to Christy Bray's daughter, Jen for making me a logo!  She was very reasonably priced and listened to my ideas, browsed the pinterest board with ideas, and customized it just for me!  I can't wait to update my blog with it!

Paper Made Prettier June Team Meeting

The Paper made Prettier team meeting is always a great time!
What is Paper Made Prettier?
You thought we were Spread Joy Stamping, didn't you? Well, the Paper Made Prettier team is comprised of Kay Cogbill (the Queen of the Pretties) and her down lines, and their down lines, and THEIR down lines! So Spread Joy Stamping is part of the Paper Made Prettier Team!
What Happens at Team Meetings?
At our team meetings, we get to celebrate each other’s achievements, stamp together, and learn ways to improve or promote our businesses.  One of my favorite parts of the meetings is our team swaps.  Those that are interested make 7 -9 cards (the number changes each month depending on how many participate) just alike and then swap them with each other.  You get to take home as many different cards as you made!  Everyone’s styles are different, so the variety is nice and you have more ideas to CASE!  There are also creative and business challenges each month.
June Swaps
This month’s swaps were amazing! You can tell that everyone put a lot of work into their swaps.
I CASEd Pink Buckaroo Designs with these Tic Tac boxes.  I wrapped the gold satin ribbon around the box and secured it at the top with Whisper White thick baker’s twine.  I made a sleeve of whisper white paper and then topped it with an Emerald Envy camera from the Pun Intended stamp set and “#smile” made using the Labeler Alphabet set.  I added a little clear Wink of Stella to the camera flash because you can never have enough sparkle!  Wouldn't something like this be great for party favors?

Check out everyone else’s swaps.  Aren't they fabulous?

I think the Fourth of July Pop Rocks is my favorite!

Creative Challenge
June’s creative challenge was “summer”.  If I had realized how hot it was going to be right now, I would have figured out how to make a melting asphalt card!
I used the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and the Tree Builder punch to make the ice cream cone with Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, and Rich Razzleberry scoops. The “Sunshine” cutout is from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, and the word Frozen was made using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.  I think this says summer and makes me think of ice cream trucks!

Business Challenge
This month’s business challenge was to make a starter kit flyer.  I had fun doing this, and Pages on my Mac had a great templete for it.  It was so much fun that I made three!  Ha!
Since only Kay and I made flyers...I won a prize for mine!

Meeting Highlights
Queenie asked me to demonstrate a technique.  I decided to do a watercolor technique that I saw on Pinterest (because where else do you find new techniques?).  This was an abject failure!  I had one mini legal pad left so I decided to demonstrate how to make and decorate a cover for it.  Watch the video of my presentation here.  Yikes!  Seeing yourself on camera is weird!
I used Peekaboo Peach (my new BFF), Flirty Flamingo, and Emerald Envy.  The patterned paper is from the In Color DSP stack (love!).  The stamps are from the Sunshine Sayings set and the cutouts were made using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits.

Celebrating our Accomplishments
There were several accomplishments to be celebrated this month:
Patience had the most sales in May (go Patience!).
Several people became qualified (which means free stamp set from Kay!).
Kay's newest downline Susi was there!

Last But Not Least, Stamping!
And last but not least, we made these super cute cards using the Hostess set "Love You Lots"!

Ronald McDonald House Card Night

Stamping for Ronald
Yesterday was the first of the Ronald McDonald House card making parties.  At these parties we make 12 cards and give half to the Ronald McDonald House for the guests to use.

Partners in Caring
Jessica and her ADPi (I don't know how to type Greek letters!) alumni group joined with Spread Joy Stamping to support the Ronald McDonald House, the Charity for both ADPi and Stampin' Up!  We gathered at Jessica's house and made 12 cards.  Each attendee also purchased the My Hero stamp set, $3.00 of the purchase price goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Thank You and Christmas Cards
We made Thank You cards and Christmas Cards.  I know thank you cards are needed and I think that having Christmas Cards available will be one less stressor to have to worry about in December.  I'll hang on to the Christmas Cards until October or so, but I'll deliver the Thank You cards before then.

I love these Christmas Cards.  I cased them from the catalog from a gift bag using the same colors.

Stamping with a Friend
My friend Marie was in from Seattle for her dad's retirement party.  Family festivities ran long so she missed the party.  I took the supplies over to her brother Josh's apartment and we got hers almost completely made.  Unfortunately, I lost the Melon Mambo marker on the way over and she couldn't get it all finished. (Yes, I found the marker!  Don't panic!)  But she got it all done except for the Christmas Card stamping and she can do that when she gets home.

Stampin' Up! Selected Me to Make OnStage Displays!

I'm so excited!  I was selected to make display board samples for OnStage Local - Kansas City in November!  My whole team is pumped too...because they're the absolute best!

I was so excited that I started making some new stuff, and really pushing myself to use new types of things on my cards and to make "non-cards."

I also got a lesson in photography; how to take better pictures and how to edit my pictures to make them look better!  I think that's the one big thing that I need to do to improve my blog.  Let me know what you think about the pictures in this post.

I converted a See n Say into a door prize spinner!  It's especially fun if you leave the sound on..."pick the animal that goes moo" makes spinning a farm adventure!  In the box with the See n Say was a package of 2" X 2 3/4" cardboard tiles.  They were just screaming out to become a matching game!  I stamped and colored on one side and then put the polka dot DSP in Cucumber Crush on the back.  I think that if I were making them for a kid I would laminated the paper before attaching it.  But seeing as my kid is 26, I think I'm ok!

Stamped Matching Game

I had some bad news at work (I didn't get a promotion that I applied for) and my employees will be sad with me when the find out tomorrow (well, happy/sad because I'm not leaving them) so I made them all little covered legal pads.  I want them to know how much I appreciate them and that I'm ok that I'm staying with them.
Custom Notepad Cover

I love the Affectionately Yours DSP, don't you ?

I bought some tiny wooden spoons to put in the containers with my embossing powder...I used six and have like a 20 left.  I looked over at them on my craft table and thought, I need to stamp on those!  This turned out cuter than I thought it would.  So cute that we might make these at card club next week!
Because I stamped on a tiny wooden spoon!
I'm head over heels for this.
(The card is balanced in the fig tree! Very artistic, huh?)

I love the You're Sublime stamp set.  Here are a couple of cards made with them and the new In-Colors.  I used my blender pens with them to keep the colors soft.
The You're Sublime Set is so fun!

Don't forget to leave me some feedback on my photography.  I'm hoping it looks much better!

New Catalog Open House

The open house was fun!  I got up early and brought down my new stamps and the tons of samples that I had made.  I also opened the new Hello Lovely Project Life kit and accessory pack!  It's so pretty.  I need pictures to go with it right now.  The new accessory packs come with a small set of stamps now!

Aren't these little guys adorable?

I love this.  It is so pretty and...well, lovely.  And one of the colors in it is my new BFF, Peekaboo Peach!

Look at the new In Colors.  I love seeing them all together like this.  The ribbon and the patterned paper stack, plus the cards made with it.  So pretty!

Pop of Paradise and Pop of Pink are really standing out here.  Plus the big pineapple stamp! I love this....who knew I'd go cray cray over flamingos!
You can also see the Moroccan Nights stamps to the left.  I can't wait to play with them and the washi tape on June 23rd!

l

Here you can see some more of the new stamp sets I have.  I can't wait to plan a party or event around them.  There's a great sympathy set that I'm dying to try out.  I have time in my calendar in June to party with you...

How much do you love my new sign??  I got it at Michael's yesterday.
The letters and icons were purchased separately, but they are so perfect
for this catalog that I couldn't resist!

We made this card as a make and take.
I can't wait to use this set at the shaker class in August!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by!  See you in class soon!
